Mortgage Rates – September 7, 2026

Mortgage rates for the summer have been as volatile as Donald Trumps hairdo. Just when we think we have settled into a rhythm, things change. The reality is US markets have been tin a tale spin since the conflict between the United States and Iran began this spring.
Last week we saw the US treasury 10 year yield hit it’s highest point since November 2023 as well as some hawkish language coming from the fed in regards to future rates.
This week we have some additional economic news coming to keep an eye on such as existing home sales along with new inflation numbers. If you are waiting for a magical rate drop moment, the likelihood is slim over the coming weeks. Still, strong rates are available if you shop around. The first step is finding a lender to get pre-approved so you can lock when the time is right.
