Mortgage Rates – March 5, 2026

Mortgage rates have shown volatility this week as markets digest the United States conflict in Iran. When we see the Dow Jones Industrial Average swinging by hundreds of points each day, mortgage rates are sure to follow in some capacity. As of 12 Eastern, the DOW is down nearly 800 points which is a stark reversal of yesterdays optimism in the market. That optimism helped rates briefly as they have been climbing since the weekends air strikes.

What becomes of the next Fed meeting is anyones guess. A lot can change from now to March 17th. Tomorrow we will have new employment data, and March 11th the Consumer Price Index data drops. Keep an eye on these dates as the Fed will be watching these closely in advance of their decision on rates.
